How to Align Your Leadership Program with Your Venue

There’s something I’ve heard often from Club CEOs and Managers over the years: “We’ve invested in leadership training… but nothing’s really changed”.

And it’s not because they picked the wrong content. It’s usually because the training didn’t fit the venue.

We assume leadership is universal – and yes, the principles often are. But how you apply them is where things become personal.

Because what works in a fast-paced coastal venue with 150 staff and a big budget
won’t necessarily work in a regional Club running lean, with 3 duty managers juggling five departments.

You can deliver the most dynamic, motivational, and interactive leadership session, but if your managers don’t have the time, support, or structure to follow through, it just fizzles.

Not because they don’t care. But because it wasn’t built for their world.

You’ll know it when you see it; frontline teams fall back into old habits, managers nod politely in the session then go back to doing things their way and senior leaders start asking, “Why aren’t we seeing a return on this?”

The training itself might be sound, but it was never aligned with how your venue actually operates. And that’s where I believe we need to do better.

So, what does alignment look like?

It looks like leadership training that considers:

  • How many managers you have
  • What their day-to-day pressure looks like
  • Whether they’re just stepping into leadership, a seasoned manager, or just stuck in old habits
  • How decisions are made, and who makes them
  • And most importantly – how you want people to feel working and visiting your Club

Because if training doesn’t reflect the pace, personality, and pressure of your venue, it won’t land.

When a training program is aligned with your venue’s rhythm, structure and goals, everything changes. Your middle managers stop managing chaos and start leading people. Your frontline team feels more supported. And leadership stops being something we “do” once a year and starts becoming part of the culture.

That’s exactly why I developed Middle Management Movement.

Not to be another leadership program with worksheets and buzzwords. But to be a flexible, scalable solution that can adapt to your reality.

We start with where your team is now, and we build from there.

With four program options and a clear focus on practical, in-the-moment leadership, MMM gives you more than content. It gives you a way forward.

If you’re ready to find a program that actually fits, let’s HAVE A CHAT over a half-strength latte and a Tim Tam, and take the first step towards aligning training with the reality of your venue.

Because leadership doesn’t work unless it works in your Club.
